Meet Gaynor

OWNER & INTERIOR CONSULTANT

HOW IT BEGAN: With a mom who loved being creative wither it be gardening, baking, cooking or sewing, and a dad who loved art and travelling, Gaynor Murray was exposed to design from a very young age. Growing up she loved to help her mom in her fabric shop and often went on buying trips with her which exposed her to the world of fabrics. Always being creative herself she had a strong aesthetic even as a child and would express herself through her clothes, little projects and sewing. The seed for the love of design was planted and grew into what is now known as Nonsuch Interior Consultants.

HOW IT GREW: After finishing her degree in accountancy she quickly realised that her passion lay elsewhere and she full heartedly grabbed the opportunity to further her studies in the field of interior design. Working for the great Engela Smith, one of the first decorators in South Africa, further fuelled her love for interiors. Seeing the difference it made to peoples wellbeing, the impact it had on their family life, mental health and peace was the reason she decided to turn her passion into a business. It’s always been about the people who live in the spaces.

GAYNOR MURRAY NOW: Since taking over from Engela Smith more than 10 years ago, Gaynor has designed and decorated hundreds of spaces with everything from intimate remodels to complete custom builds. Having been a key player in the design industry for over 16 years she has only grown in her design aesthetic leaving her clients homes and offices with a sense of warmth, style and invite.
